Check out our job openings and advance your career with a company that values its team members!LOCATION: White Plains, NYHOURS: Monday-Friday 4:00am-8amPart TimeHourly Rate: $30-55/hrPosition Summary: The Histology/IHC Technician will perform laboratory procedures and functions in accordance to established protocols which require limited independent judgement and review.  The individual will provide daily operational assistance to the department supervisor/manager and provide guidance to the supporting staff.In this role you will:Handle specimens from accessioning to final specimen storageAssist supervisor/manager with day-to-day administration of the histology departmentPerform all routine processes of surgical specimen i.e., embedding, cutting, staining and cover slippingEnsure adherence and maintains quality control and quality assurance proceduresReview slides for overall quality of preparation i.e., staining intensity, proper cover slipping and stain artifacts to help ensure accuracyCoordinate timely distribution of completed patient materials to pathologistProvide training and guidance to laboratory assistantPrepare and maintain reagents for routine H&E, special stain and IHC proceduresOperate and maintain laboratory equipment according to specification i.e., automated H&E staining instrument, Ventana Benchmark Ultra and Special Stain instruments, tissue processorMaintain and complete instrument specific QC documents when applicablePerform basic troubleshooting diagnosis and/or repairs of instrumentation and document remedial actionsMaintain all paperwork associated with the laboratory i.e., records maintenance logs and temperature logs as neededMonitor inventory and alerts staff of low stock supplies prior to depletionOperate and maintain a clean workstation and areaAssist with coverage of other lab operational tasksMaintain a positive, achievement-oriented attitude and influence others to do the sameOther duties as directed by the supervisor and/or departments manage.All you need is:High School Education/ Associate Degree with some medical or science related course of studyNY State license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Histological Technician required3-5 years of experience in HistologyThe ability to establish work priorities and to handle several tasks for maximum work efficiencyGood clerical, organization, attention to detail, time management and communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude are essentialMaintain confidentiality of sensitive information concerning patients, physicians, employees, clients, vendors, and the companyBonus points if you've got:ASCP HT or HTL certification is a plusScheduled Weekly Hours:20Work Shift:Job Category:Laboratory OperationsCompany:ProPath Services, LLCSonic Healthcare USA is an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and is committed to an inclusive workplace for all employees.
