Mercy Hospital South is looking for compassionate, team-oriented individuals to join ourí‚ Inpatient Med Surg Eastí‚ unit as aí‚ Patient Care Associate (PCA).In this hands-on role, youí¢€™ll work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide essential care and support to patients. From assisting with daily activities and hygiene to monitoring vital signs and ensuring a safe, healing environmentí¢€”youí¢€™ll be a key part of each patientí¢€™s recovery journey.QualificationsEducation & Experience:High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPTC, or current enrollment in a healthcare career program through high school curriculum.Current Mercy co-workers are also eligible.No prior experience requiredí¢€”Mercy provides aí‚ 175-hour paid training programí‚ that meets state Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. This must be completed within 90 days of hire.Licensure & Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS)í‚ certification required within one month of hire.Completion of PCA competencies required within three months of hire.Preferred:í‚ Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.Physical Requirements:Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift.Must be able to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform patient care tasks.Other Requirements:Strong time management and clinical judgment.Flexibility with assignments and willingness to work as part of a collaborative team.Commitment to maintaining compliance with required certifications and training.Job Duties:Opportunity for advancement through career ladder to Patient Care Technician (PCT) and/or beyond.Responsibilities for Patient Care Associate (PCA):Obtain vital signs and document into the electronic medical records systemAssist with patient care needs including, meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, patient mobility, and transport.Clerical support duties, as needed.Responsibilities for Patient Care Technician (PCT):Patient Care Associate job duties.Phlebotomy/blood culturesEnteral FeedingWound careIV/Foley removalTrach care/suctioningWeí¢€™re bringing to life a healing ministry through compassionate care.At Mercy, our supportive community will be behind you every step of your day, especially the tough ones.
