Marion Ag, a rapidly growing company, based in Saint Paul, Oregon, has been in business for over 40 years. Marion Ag provides fertilizer and other farm and nursery supplies to both wholesale and retail customers, locally and internationally.The experience expected from applicants, as well as additional skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below.Marion Ag currently has an open position in their Maintenance Department for a Diesel Mechanic.The primary purpose of the Diesel Mechanic role at Marion Ag Service is to ensure the efficient operation and optimal functionality of all vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and equipment contributing to the seamless daily operations of the organization. The role requires expertise in hydraulic systems, air brakes, wheel seals, axles, and more. This includes conducting preventive maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical issues, and implementing improvements to enhance overall reliability and performance, thereby supporting Marion Ag's mission and vision of sustainable and productive agricultural products. _Please note: this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice._*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Perform maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including Freightliners, Internationals, and various other brands.* Diagnose and repair a variety of trailers, including flatbeds, pneumatics, and hopper-bottom trailers.* Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including those on buggies and other equipment.* Inspect, repair, and replace brakes, air brake systems, wheel seals, and axles.* Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.* Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify mechanical and electrical issues.* Complete work orders, document repairs, and maintain accurate service records.* Follow all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.* Perform with minimal supervision.* Report significant damage and/or malfunctions to supervisor.* Communicate with supervisor when outside expertise is needed for repairs and maintenance.* Accurately and legibly complete all Marion Ag Service required documents.*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS** High school diploma or Equivalent; Technical school training is a plus.* Minimum 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or in a related field, experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.* Must have a valid Oregon Driver License.* Must be able to provide and use own tools. Basic automotive tools would be a good starting point.* Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.* Automotive skills*PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE** Experience leading teams or projects strongly desired* Experience with electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting.* Welding skills, including MIG, TIG, and aluminum welding.* Familiarity with A/C components and repair.* Experience working with construction equipment, such as front loaders.* ODOT inspection certification or experience performing ODOT inspections.* Bilingual in Spanish and English (speak, read, write)*LOCATION AND HOURS*7746 St. Paul Hwy NESt. Paul, OR 97137This position is full-time, not exempt from overtime. The scheduled shift for this position is: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Some Saturdays and after-hours work is required.
