The Opportunity: Avantor is looking for a dedicated and experienced Sr. Mechanic to optimize our NuSil team, delivering results against some of the most complex business and technology initiatives. This role will be a full-time position based out of our Carpinteria, CA facility. You will have the opportunity to be responsible for assembling, fabricating, and repairing mechanical/electrical components and systems in accordance with specification and drawings. The team Avantor’s NuSil team is part of our Biomaterials unit. This team supports the innovation and growth objectives of major laboratories across the globe by helping with the integration of new technology solutions into their lab processes and operations. What we’re looking for Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: 3-6 years in relevant industry with SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, pipe fitter, sheet metal, machining, plumbing, and/or electrical Preferred Qualifications Technical training or certifications ASME Section IX B31.3 AWS D1.6 Structural Electrical apprentice How you will thrive and create an impact Fabricate, assemble and install equipment or components using hand tools, power tools, and machinery Read and interpret technical drawings and specification to understand project requirements. Perform repairs and maintenance on existing mechanical systems and equipment Ensure all fabrication work meets quality standards and safety regulations Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues and implement effective solutions Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time Document fabrication process and maintain records of work performed.
