Job Summary:This is a position in the downstream process development group involving the planning and execution of purification pilot/scale up and lab-scale confirmation runs for biological therapeutics using chromatography, precipitation, and filtration methods. Responsibilities include:Use of AKTA chromatography systems with Unicorn 7 softwareUse of pumps for normal and tangential flow filtration operationsUse of pH and conductivity metersBuffer preparationChromatography column packingEquipment maintenance and troubleshootingAssist in the evaluation, development and implementation of new downstream technologies leading to process improvements and efficiency of operation.Ordering raw materials and consumablesTechnical report writingLab work at small scale and larger pilot scalesIdentify and effectively manage scale-up riskIdentify and implement continuous operation improvement ideasExecute the process with low bioburden risk and great attention to detailQualifications and Experience:●B.S. in biochemistry, chemical engineering or related area with 2 - 5 years experience or M.S. with 0 - 2 years experience.●Skilled in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.●Experience with purification process development preferred.●Experience with pilot or manufacturing scale downstream processing preferred.●Excellent customer service skills and the ability to meet strict client deadlines.●Capability to lift 30 pounds or higher weight.●Flexibility of hours to support downstream process requirements, as needed.
