Job DescriptionJoin the Clean Energy Revolution Become a Fire and Recreation Patrol (Forestry Senior Support) at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you''ll support the promotion of public safety and the prevention of wildfire, trespass, vandalism, misuse, and theft on SCEs Shaver Lake and Dinkey Creek Forestlands. The position also supports seasonal forest management practices such as prescribed burning and reforestation. As a Fire and Recreation Patrol, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future? A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright! Perform daily recreation and fire prevention patrols to support public safety and protect natural resources. Performs routine patrols utilizing vehicles, boats, and on foot. Promotes public relations and compliance through visitor education and policy enforcement contacts on Edison''s 20,000 acres located at Shaver Lake and Dinkey Creek. Responds to incidents such as fires, accidents, rescues, and missing person reports on Edison property to support agency personnel. Supports compliance with FERC license requirements regarding incident reporting, trespass and recreational use, and lake surface management and buoy maintenance. Assists with recreation use surveys, events, inspections, permits and information. Assists with prescribed burn program and wildland fire suppression. Assists with various forestry projects including tree planting, nursery operations, snow plowing, snow cat operation and other forest management projects as assigned. QualificationsThe essentials Four or more years'' experience in one or more of the following fields: Law Enforcement, Wildland Fire Fighting, Forestry or Natural Resource Protection. Valid Driver''s License. Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. and work in uneven terrain under inclement conditions. The preferred Associate degree in Forestry, Fire Science, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Ability to effectively communicate with the public, peers, and agency personnel. One or more years'' experience with any of the following: certified chainsaw use motorized boat operation and safety water safety or rescue wildland fire equipment operation and maintenance You should know ... Work Mode: This position''s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The primary work location for this position is Shaver Lake. Position will require up to 90% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE Shaver Lake and Dinkey Creek Forestlands.
