This position will be responsible for servicing multiple communities that Habitat America manages, but the home office will be based out of Victory Forest Apartments in Silver Spring, Maryland.Qualified applicants are highly motivated, energetic with a positive, ''can do'' attitude. Qualified applicants should have previous experience in case work (2-5+ yrs), have the ability to recognize the needs of seniors, and ability to create develop programs that can be use over multiple properties. The Regional Resident Services Coordinator (RRSC) provides support to a diverse group of residents living in affordable housing at multiple properties. The position will have a home office at Victory Forest Apartments in Silver Spring, MD. This position requires a motivated and resourceful individual who is sensitive to resident needs; has excellent service coordination, can work within a team and can thrive in a relatively independent work environment. The RRSC actively supports the needs of residents in the Victory Housing property portfolio. The RRSC will follow up on notices given to residents and will work pro actively to decrease the number of notices that result in evictions. The RRSC will work with other community staff to assist with program outreach. The RRSC will create community newsletters and event calendars for Victory Forest. The RRSC may contribute to the community newsletter of the other properties. The RRSC works closely with the Community Managers in regards to referrals of need based on reported incidents, observations and requests. The RRSC always follows proper Landlord/Tenant and Fair Housing Law Practices and Policies. The RRSC position includes sitting, walking, and standing often for long periods of time as well as driving from property to property. The RRSC is not a supervisory position.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:The Regional Resident Services Coordinator (RRSC) must have the ability to work with people of ethnically and socio economically diverse backgrounds. The RRSC must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive resident information while being sensitive to issues that face our residents. The RRSC must have strong organizational skills, as well has having good analytical skills, problem solving skills and an attention to following up with details. The RRSC must have the capacity to work both independently and resourcefully, and is able to take initiative and exercise good judgment. The RRSC must be able to work professionally in a fast paced and often stressful environment. It is necessary that the RRSC have the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations and utilize good communications and resolutions skills. The RRSC must have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and he/she must have excellent customer service skills. The RRSC must have knowledge of basic computer skills in such programs as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and use of the internet.MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:The primary areas of responsibility for the Resident Services Coordinator (RRSC) position at Victory Forest Apartments are in the areas of resident community building, management of the common area rooms and scheduled events, outreach to service providers, motivating residents, communications with residents, and liaison between property management and residents. Supporting other properties in the portfolio includes outreach to service providers, assisting residents with referrals to services as needed and being liaison between property management and residents.Case Management Provide holistic and comprehensive case management services to all residents in need at the properties including benefit assessment, goal setting, long and short-term case plan development, progress monitoring, advocacy and referrals to County/City resources. Assist residents in completing forms and applications and guide them in making linkages to appropriate agencies.Plan and Implement Programs and Activities: Needs of youth, adults, seniors and families are identified and responded to with appropriate workshops, programs and activities, as prioritized and agreed upon in consultation with the Community Manager. Programs are designed with a special emphasis on health/wellness, financial fitness, and education with programming. Programs are offered at times convenient for the majority of residents, including some evening programs for residents who work during the day. Partnerships: Develops an ongoing cooperative network of government and social service agencies in the vicinity of the Maintain contact with community partners, including non-profits and vendors, to bring relevant workshops, programs, activities, and opportunities to the communities. In consultation with the Regional Manager, create relevant memoranda of understanding with partners and vendors to ensure compliance with accounting and risk management. Assure best practices and clear communication are implemented with all parties involved in the partnerships. Collect Data and Prepare Reports: Compile and enter relevant data in monthly report on program outcomes. Produce other reports as assigned on time. Based on program participation data and other input from residents, make recommendations for partnerships and activities. Use the allocated program funds to provide a variety of popular programs and useful services without overspending. Provide accurate and timely documentation of all expenses. Administrative: Completes all reports associated with the RRSC position, as determined by the Community Manager or Regional This includes but not limited to program participation data, overview of referral made to providers and outreach efforts. Schedules events for the community calendar. Takes lead on community events and associated required paperwork. Provides quarterly reports to ownership showing participation, updates and analysis of various property needs and future goals.Other Other areas of responsibility are:Contributes to a safe and pleasant working environmentFollows policies and procedures, including safe work practicesAble to travel to other community sites, corporate offices or offsite designated locations for purposes of events or training, as requiredOther duties as assigned.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Required Hours: RRSC positions within Habitat America are fulltime positions. This position will be based out of Victory Forest Apartments in Silver Spring.Physical Requirements: Extensive mobility and good physical condition. Must be able to travel throughout the community building(s) and attend meetings, events throughout the community. Must have the ability to professionally handle a significant level of stress. Must have the ability to set up and clean up facilities before and after resident events with occasional lifting and pushing. Ability to lift 15 to 20 pounds, as necessary. Ability to move hands for computer use. Ability to sit, stand and walk for office work and for meetings and events. Ability to travel to other sites or to the corporate offices for required training.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.JOB CONDITIONS: This position could require some evening and weekend hours, as required. The RRSC could be exposed to angry or distraught people. May require lifting 20 pounds or ANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:The Regional Resident Services Coordinator directly reports to the Regional Managers. The RRSC is also supervised by Regional Manager assigned to the community and Management Specialist (if applicable).FLSA Status: Nonexempt (hourly) EmployeeEducation: Human Services and/or Education Degree preferred. Experience working in the social service and education field. Experience with low income communities strongly desired. Any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities described. Previous experience in the field of social work is a plus. Bilingual is a plus.Transportation: Must have dependable transportation, as travel to sites is required of this position. Must provide proof of liability insurance for same.
