SMSI is looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist 3 to support work at Los Alamos National Laboratory. This position will be part of the Laboratorys Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a twohour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2022, but may be shortened or extended at the managers discretion. Ability to report onsite is a must for this position. Job Description: Quality Performance Assurance (QPA) specialists support the deployment of an integrated set of QPA processes that enable management by fact, continuous institutional learning and improvement across all major areas of mission/program, science/technology/engineering, operations and business support, with an overall focus on improving mission delivery. Has wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods. Considered expert in field within the organization. Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Requires some responsibility for making responsible contacts across internal organizations and occasionally external to the organization. Work is accomplished without considerable direction. May coordinate activities of other personnel. Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignment, and determines the methods and procedures needed for new assignments. Scope/Key Responsibility: Reporting to the Team Leader of Institutional CAS and Performance Analysis team, you will support the deployment of an integrated set of Contractor Assurance System (CAS) processes that enable management by fact, continuous institutional learning and improvement across all major areas of mission/program, science/technology/engineering, operations and business support, with an overall focus on improving mission delivery. You will function as a subject matter expert in one area and/or as the lead operator for the assigned contractor assurance processes according to established policies and guidance from CAO managers. This position will deployed from the core team and provide support for a varied customer base. Required Experience/Qualifications: Contractor Assurance System Demonstrated working knowledge of two to four of the contractor assurance processes and their integration into a management system. Knowledge, Skills and Expertise Demonstrated experience with designing, deploying and operating systems and supporting tools and providing training for one or more of the following: performance improvement; commitment management; measures, assessments; lessons learned; risk characterization; issues and corrective actions management; and, process improvement to enable fact- and data-based executive management decisions for the institution and its major business areas. Impact, Decision Making, and Problem Solving Demonstrated experience providing coaching and advice to management customers. Experience facilitating collaboration and coordination to solve complex institutional performance challenges using CAS. Ability to ensure all results, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements including cost, scope, and schedule. Personal Skills Demonstrated experience successfully interacting with management and customers with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead and engage people. Proven success working independently and in a team environment, with both internal and external customers. Education and Years of Relevant Experience Position requires a Bachelors Degree and eight years related experience in organizational-level performance-based management, quality, and/or a technical discipline related to area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Desired Qualifications: Knowledge Knowledge of LANL organization structure, policies, and procedures. Skills/Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of risk management principles and experience implementing of risk management practices . Demonstrated experience with one of more the following CAS-related areas: issues and corrective actions management, metrics and/or trending. Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.). Clearance Active DOE Q or other Top Secret clearance. All candidates must possess: US Citizenship Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational skills Capability with MS Office Suite Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with clients, contractors, and consultants on a day-to-day basis.
