This client is a well-known, leading manufacturer of products in the Food & Beverage space and are seeking a Accounting Manager to join their growing team!This client is specifically looking for a strong Accountant/Senior Accountant ready for the next step up! No direct reports to start but there is an AP/AR Clerk on the team.Reporting directly into the Controller, you will be owning the entire $30M plant function in IL from a cost accounting perspective. As the Accounting Manager, you will also drive continuous process improvements and partner with the Plant Manager onsite to provide key financial analysis to support the business' growth.Job DescriptionAccounting Manager Responsibilities:Lead the plant's financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.Track key performance indicators, conduct variance analyses, and offer actionable insights to enhance profitability.Evaluate production costs, labor productivity, material consumption, and overhead expenses to uncover cost-saving opportunities.Maintain accurate and timely cost accounting, including product costing, variance analysis, and cost allocation.Investigate manufacturing variances such as material, labor, and overhead discrepancies.Partner with operations to validate bills of materials (BOMs) and standard costs for accuracy.Collaborate with plant leadership to implement cost reduction strategies and boost operational efficiency.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) aimed at increasing productivity and minimizing waste.Oversee inventory levels and conduct regular audits to ensure financial accuracy.Compile and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in line with corporate policies and GAAP/IFRS standards.Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the Plant Controller and corporate finance, aligning with corporate requirements.Support internal and external audits by ensuring adherence to financial policies and controls.Assist in assessing capital expenditure (Capex) proposals to ensure they meet financial and operational objectives.Perform ROI analyses for plant investments and provide financial rationale for new projects.Lead the development of the plant's annual budget and long-term financial forecasts.Monitor budget performance, identify risks and opportunities, and communicate findings to the Plant Controller.Ensure robust internal controls are in place to protect assets and prevent fraud or misuse.Help implement and uphold company-wide financial policies and procedures.Collaborate with operations, supply chain, procurement, and engineering to align financial goals with business strategies.Deliver financial insights to support decisions on production planning, capacity management, and supply chain efficiency.Provide financial evaluations on strategic topics such as pricing, product profitability, and make-or-buy decisions.Assist the Plant Controller with special projects, including financial modeling and strategic analysis.
