The SC Human Affairs Commission is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply! The Fair Housing Investigator will perform a variety of duties relative to investigations, conciliation, and disposition of Fair Housing discrimination complaints in the state based upon the State of South Carolina Human Affairs Law. Responsibilities of the Program Coordinator I:Timely Processing of all assigned cases to ensure final action is attained without delay to the investigator. Ensure that case files are properly organized, and all alleged housing issues be addressed and all information directly relevant to the alleged issues be obtained through reasonable, professional diligence to be included in files when submitted for review. All case files will include an Investigative Plan. Investigator will verify disability and establish jurisdiction within 10 days of the start of the investigation. Notes will be updated in Teapots on a daily basis. Under limited supervision, the investigation of 4-6 employment cases per month within 180 days of date of assignment. Maintains necessary knowledge of State and federal laws. Complete the assigned case accurately and thoroughly according to established standards. Provides information, advice and assistance regarding individuals' rights, and general provisions and obligations to respondents, complainants, various groups and organizations. Upon request, provides advice and assistance to employers to ensure compliance with relevant laws. The employee will conduct Fair Housing Outreach. The investigator will participate in training, workshops and meetings as required. Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma and relevant program experience. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview. Preferred Qualifications A bachelor's degree is preferred, but relevant program experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.
