Job Description

Transform Lives Through Communication in Grand Rapids, Michigan - Become Our Next Speech Language PathologistOverview What if your next professional journey could give voice to meaning - quite literally? Imagine being a Speech Language Pathologist within one of the Midwest's most picturesque cities, where your impact transcends just treating communication and swallowing disorders. You'll have the power to unlock potential in your patients, restoring confidence and nurturing connections - from the excitement of toddlers mastering their first words to the triumph of seniors regaining their independence. This role offers you a rare chance to work with a diverse patient population, spanning across all ages, in an environment that harmoniously blends outpatient therapy with the occasional need for inpatient services. Whether your heart beats for pediatric speech development, adult neurogenic communication issues, or the nuances of geriatric cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation, you'll discover a fulfilling and flexible career here. Description Assess patients from pediatric to geriatric clients through the use of standardized assessments and keen observational skills. Create tailored treatment plans reflecting both immediate objectives and long-term goals related to communication, cognition, or swallowing. Engage in personalized speech therapy sessions that target communication, language fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing challenges. Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including physical and occupational therapists, alongside caregivers and family members, to develop effective care strategies. Offer education to patients and their families to facilitate progress between therapy sessions. Participate in inpatient evaluations and therapy as needed, ensuring a seamless continuum of care throughout the recovery process. Maintain precise documentation adhering to both state and federal regulations, as well as organizational policies. Keep abreast of advancements in the field by pursuing ongoing education and engaging in peer collaboration. Education A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification is pending. Certifications State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification mandatory within 30 days of hire. Skills Expertise in evidence-based treatment methodologies suitable for all age groups, coupled with a deep understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing conditions. Outstanding communication skills for engaging with patients, their families, and vital care teams. Adept at adjusting therapy methods to accommodate unique cultural and linguistic needs. Strong clinical judgment paired with adept problem-solving skills. Familiar with electronic medical records and documentation protocols. Benefits Attractive compensation reflecting experience and expertise. Flexible work schedules promoting a healthy work-life integration and varied patient caseloads. Opportunities to specialize in pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric care. Paid time off (PTO) along with holiday compensation. Comprehensive options for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Support for continued education and professional development. An integrative team culture that emphasizes quality care and lifelong learning. A Journey That Nurtures Growth - For You and Your Patients In this position, you won't merely deliver speech therapy; instead, you'll immerse yourself in a community-focused mission dedicated to restoring voices, enhancing communication, and fostering moments of happiness through essential human interactions: being heard and understanding others. You'll collaborate with passionate clinicians who treat one another like family, in an environment that values teamwork over competition. Every individual has a unique narrative; we trust you to help them articulate it. Why You'll Be Captivated by Life in Grand Rapids In this enchanting part of Michigan, you'll find a unique blend of vibrant culture and warm community spirit. Grand Rapids is famed for its art scene, lush city parks, and, of course, the stunning views along the Grand River. Here, immersing yourself in nature is as easy as exploring scenic trails, kayaking in serene waterways, or visiting the exquisite Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. Gatherings abound in this friendly city, whether it's at lively festivals celebrating local artisans, or casual meet-ups at farmer's markets featuring fresh, local produce. Culinary enthusiasts will relish the vast array of dining options, from quaint riverside bistros to innovative restaurants with menus that celebrate farm-to-table freshness. The spirit of innovation reverberates through every corner of Grand Rapids, offering not just lifestyle perks but also an environment ripe for career growth. With no state income tax, an affordable cost of living, and an expanding healthcare sector, you'll feel empowered to cultivate your career while relishing life in this thriving community. Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned practitioner looking for new horizons, this is an environment where both personal and professional development flourishes. Who We're Eager to Welcome We are in search of a Speech Language Pathologist who is dedicated not only to measurable results but also to genuine compassion. You should be someone who perceives the shy child and envisions a future brimming with self-expression, or hears a stroke survivor's mutterings yet perceives resolve. Whether you are a pediatric expert hoping to branch into adult services or a neuro-focused clinician eager to expand into early intervention, you are encouraged to apply. If your heart beats for serving with compassion and your mind is sharp with skills, we would love to have you join our team. Let's Craft Their Stories Together If you understand that speech transcends mere sounds, and that therapy encompasses more than action items - if you believe in establishing trust before setting goals, and cherishing laughter as much as words - then this could be the significant next chapter in your career saga. Join us in a community that cherishes the beauty of communication, connection, and the bravery it takes to start anew. Apply today to lend your voice to our mission - and empower others to find theirs.
