Salary: $12.00 - $13.00 Hourly Location : ROCKWALL, TX Job Type: PART TIME NO BENEFITS Job Number: PT LIFEGUARD 12/4 Department: RECREATION Opening Date: 12/04/2025 Closing Date: Continuous Description Responsible for preventing, identifying and responding to aquatic accidents and/or injuries. A Lifeguard must be punctual, fair, consistent, knowledgeable and professional. Responsible for ensuring patron and swimmer safety. In addition, assist pool management to develop strategies leading to the accomplishment of division goals. Will serve as a temporary manager on duty if the Pool Manager or Assistant Pool Manager are off site. Examples of Essential FunctionsPreventive enforcement of pool rules in and around the pool. Identifies and responds to emergency situations and administers care. Performs general maintenance in and around the pool. Performs chemical test on pools and reports this data to Pool Management. Responsible for collection of fees and promoting public relations with pool users. Attends in-service training as required by the Department. Incumbent must determine, enforce and prevent rule violations pertaining to the facility. Must ensure the safety of Aquatic patrons. Leads the Learn To Swim classes. May serve as a temporary manager on duty for Pool Rentals and Open Swim. Cleans/clears debris and refuse from City property regularly. Cleans restrooms on City property regularly. Must work special events as assigned. Required to report for work punctually, work all scheduled hours, and any required overtime as deemed necessary. Must maintain a physical condition and standards necessary for the proper performance of duties, with or without accommodation. Education and ExperienceMust be at least 16 years of age. Must possess current lifeguard training and CPR/FPR from American Red Cross. Some life guarding experience preferred, but not required. The incumbent must have effective oral communication skills and be a strong swimmer. Supplemental Information Knowledge skills and abilities Working knowledge of aquatic activities, life guarding, CPR and first aid. Knowledge of water rescue methods. Knowledge of swimming pool operations to include: sanitation, maintenance and safety. Must have the ability to courteously and firmly interact with pool patrons. Ability to consistently demonstrate endurance and rescue skills. Ability and skill in carrying out water rescues. Physical Requirements: Tasks are essentially sedentary, with occasional walking, bending, light lifting, or other restricted physical activities. Tasks involve some physical effort, i.e., some standing and walking, or frequent light lifting (10-15 lbs.); or minimal dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of shop or office equipment; may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Tasks may involve frequent walking, standing; some lifting and carrying of moderate weight (100± lbs.); and/or the operation of vehicles, office, shop, or hand tools in which manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination are important ingredients of safe and/or productive operations. Environmental Requirements: Some tasks are performed with or without exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, cold, rain, fumes, heat, cold, or extreme weather conditions). Sensory Requirements: Tasks require sound and visual perception and discrimination. Tasks require oral communications ability. Part Time-No benefits 01 Are you at least 16 years of age?
