Lead Social Media Strategist Cooley is looking for a dynamic Lead Social Media Strategist to join our innovative Communications team. Position summary: Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will take charge of our firmwide and department-level social media initiatives for our global law firm. As a key player in our global communications department, you will empower Cooley's attorneys and business operations teams through strategic social media management, unique content creation, and impactful campaigns. Strong project and team management skills are essential for success in this exciting role. Position responsibilities: Manage Cooley's international social media platforms and develop customized strategies to foster positive engagement with our diverse stakeholders. Collaborate with firm leaders and select practice group marketers to implement innovative social media programs that align with business development goals, enhancing brand visibility and strengthening relationships. Provide strategic leadership by partnering with senior stakeholders across Marketing, Technology & Innovation, DEI, and HR to create enterprise-level social media strategies. Develop compelling campaigns using advanced storytelling techniques, including video production and narrative frameworks, to elevate brand reputation and audience engagement. Guide social media initiatives that highlight external thought leadership within key practice areas, developing high-profile campaigns that establish the firm as an industry leader. Lead the firm's employee advocacy program to enhance Cooley's social media presence while sourcing relevant content from practice areas and business functions. Maintain the highest editorial standards and ensure adherence to firm guidelines and policies across all social media channels. Work closely with Cooley's PR team to ensure seamless communication and optimize timely social sharing of firm milestones and insights. Utilize social media channels to monitor reputational risks and identify potential issues. Enhance measurement and reporting practices to effectively showcase campaign impact and ROI. Oversee and approve all social media content, ensuring alignment with our firm's brand and messaging standards. Coordinate with various teams to secure timely approvals for social media interactions while managing tight deadlines. Supervise and mentor more junior team members, including Cooley's Social Media Specialist and other social media staff. Establish yourself as a trusted professional, earning the respect of partners and firm management. (If applicable, regarding direct reports): Serve as a direct supervisor and mentor to team members. Oversee daily operations of direct reports, ensuring compliance with work hours and firm policies while managing staffing and time-off requests. Promote professional development and educational opportunities for the team. Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and other employee lifecycle events alongside HR and your supervisor. Fulfill additional duties as assigned. Skills and experience: Required: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, iManage, and other firm applications following orientation. Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as needed. Ability to travel as required. 7+ years of relevant marketing or communications experience, with at least 2 years in management roles. Experience in a law firm or professional services environment, with a solid understanding of the sector. Knowledge of technology and life sciences sectors along with familiarity with the legal profession. Strong project management abilities. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field. Experience with video production. Prior supervisory experience. Dependability and punctuality. Cooley offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, committed to fair employment practices. EOE. The anticipated salary range for this full-time position is $130,000 - $190,000, depending on geographic location, experience, and skills. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, paid time off (21 days plus 10 holidays annually), and additional parental support benefits.
