As an Aerial Construction Technician I - Fiber Optics, you’ll play a vital role in building and maintaining fiber optic networks by installing, troubleshooting, and repairing overhead fiber lines. This dynamic and physically engaging position involves pulling, tensioning, stranding, and spacing lines, as well as performing pole transfers, strand building, lashing, make-readies, and mounting equipment. You’ll work in both communication and power spaces, gaining valuable experience in a growing industry. Join us and help power the connections that keep businesses and communities running!Safely perform work in communication spacesQualify to work safely in energized spacesParticipate in training for pole climbingInspect, mobilize, and operate a bucket truck from the cabRecord and report the sequential foot marks by the operator or groundmanResponsible for framing polesPull cable, strand, fiber, and lash, for extended periods of timeProvide framing and attachment hardware for operator, jack down guys, pull lasherWorking ConditionsWalk/use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls / Reach with hands and arms / Climb ladders and stairs / crawl/kneelClimb poles; carry, set up and extend ladders weighing up to 65 pounds, as well as work with confidence on ladders and utility poles at heights of up to 60 feet in the air to perform tasks in communications spacesWork indoors, outdoors, and underground in various weather conditionsAble to walk long distancesAble to lift up to 65 pounds without assistanceNo prior experience necessaryValid Driver’s License is requiredExperience using the following equipment: ladders, bucket truck, cable puller, and reel stands preferredExperience operating small equipment preferred (i.e., forklift, bobcat, telehandler, skid steer, etc.)General construction and/or flagging experience preferredMust be comfortable working at elevated heights and in confined spacesAdditional Eligibility QualificationsThis position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
