We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflightThis role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. As a key propulsion analyst, you will build and run steady state and transient analytic models of engines and other test articles to predict how they operate. You will use these models to develop engine requirements, build test sequences, and help with vehicle trajectory design. You will correlate system models to test data and provide the engine test team with test sequences and other guidance about safe engine operation. You will work with vehicle simulations to ensure engine modeling is accurate for flight mission simulations.Responsibilities:Build and run steady state and transient analytic models of rocket engines and test articlesSupport rocket engine and component level testing to ensure performance meets requirements and help define iterative upgradesAnalyze internal fluid flow problems using advanced lumped parameter modelsLead collaboration with component design engineers, chief engineers, and program leaders to develop and refine system modelsDevelop and apply analysis processes and tools using Python and MatLabWork collaboratively with peers to solve problemsProvide mentoring and peer review of work to junior engineers, and share knowledge base with other analyst teamsQualifications:Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering8+ years of engineering experienceThorough understanding of rocket engines, gas turbine engines, internal combustion engines, etc.Thorough understanding and ability to apply engineering fundamentals including thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and power systemsProficient in programming and knowledge of at least one programming/scripting language (Python/MATLAB/etc)5+ years prior experience with data analysisCuriosity to understand engines at a component and system levelDesire to work in a coordinated, fast-paced, and dynamic environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work optimally in and lead teamsAbility to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one timeDesired:M.S. degree or higher5+ years of experience in system modelingExperience in cryogenic propellantsExperience with rocket engine developmentKnowledge of ROCETS, NPSS, GFSSP, Thermal Desktop, or an equivalent system modeling software packageProficiency in Matlab, Python and FortranExperience with system or performance analysis across the lifecycle of a product or different productsExperience with engine qualification and verificationMature understanding of numerical solvers and methodsSolid understanding of a variety of propellantsExperience working with engine components such as pumps, turbines, injectors, combustors, and valvesCompensation Range for:CA applicants is $140,959.00-$197,342.25;WA applicants is $140,959.00-$197,342.25Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon't meet all desired requirements?
