Clinical DentistThe Dentist is responsible for supervising, supporting, and guiding Dental Hygiene students in a clinical setting. This role ensures proper patient care, upholds clinical standards, and serves as a resource to both students and faculty regarding dental procedures and medical concerns.Supervise and maintain a consistent presence in the clinic during all clinic sessionsRespond to and manage all medical emergencies that arise during clinic hoursPrescribe appropriate medicationsAdminister local anesthesia when clinically indicatedAnswer questions from students and patients to support learning and patient understandingServe as a clinical authority to dental hygiene faculty and staff on dental-related mattersIdentify and manage care for medically compromised patientsDiagnose oral pathologies and make appropriate referrals to medical and/or dental professionalsRefer patients for necessary follow-up treatmentPrescribe pit and fissure sealants as appropriate for patient careEvaluate and identify oral lesions, anomalies, or deviations from the normReview patient radiographs and provide diagnostic assessments based on findingsReview patient medical histories and refer patients to physicians when necessary.Evaluate and provide feedback to students on patient care processes and outcomes.Consult with patients to explain and review treatment plansOrganize and deliver class objectives in a clear, concise mannerFoster and maintain an orderly, controlled, and safe environment for students in classrooms and labsMaintain and prepare training aids, tools, and equipment in the classroom and labMaintain curriculum accuracy by keeping up to date on industry standards and practicesEvaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical assessmentsProvide constructive feedback and support to students to help them achieve academic and professional successIdentify and report on any at-risk students; creates individualized success plans to mitigate attritionFoster relationships with students to help them meet program competency requirementsProvide periodic and ad-hoc reporting to stakeholdersMeet with students and education personnel to discuss instructional programs and related issuesProvide and maintain regular, substantive interaction with students in online course componentsMaintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progressDeliver engaging lectures and lab sessions on assigned topics, diagnostic procedures, equipment operation and troubleshooting, etc.Other duties as assignedLicenses/CertificationsUnencumbered Dentist license in the state of CO (required)Education & ExperienceDoctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental program (required)Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a dentist (required)Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the Education industry (preferred)SkillsStrong clinical judgment and the ability to respond effectively in medical emergenciesIn-depth knowledge of oral pathology, diagnostic procedures, and treatment planningProficiency in dental tools and equipment (e.g., drills, digital x-rays, intraoral cameras)Knowledge of dental procedures (fillings, crowns, root canals, extractions, etc.)Radiographic interpretationLocal anesthesia administrationInfection control and sterilization techniquesFamiliarity with dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft)Compassion and patient-centered careCommunicate (orally or in writing) complex procedures in simple termsCalming anxious or fearful patientsProfessional bedside mannerCollaboration with dental hygienists, assistants, and front office staffStandard AbilitiesAble and willing to:Communicate, think, learn, and reasonUse computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to process transactions, store documents, enter data, or perform assigned tasksSafely ambulate and/or maneuver when on-site at Company locationsDemonstrate and utilize active listening, inductive reasoning, information ordering and category flexibilityAbility to use good judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretionAbility to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are essential and multiple projects are worked simultaneouslyAbility to gain, understand and apply information and data as it relates essential functions of the positionAbility to foster long-term relationships with stakeholdersAbilitiesAbility to provide clear, supportive instruction and guidance to students in a clinical settingAbility to evaluate student performance objectively and provide constructive feedbackWork EnvironmentWork is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.This position is designated as On Campus or On site; Work environments may include exposure to student learning environments with a variety of conditions. Employees must be able to follow all safety precautions including the use of personal-protective equipment. Employees must also be able to adhere to site-specific safety procedures.No travel required.Hourly rate range $75/HR
