We strongly believe that the manner in which our patients and customers are treated by our employees is as important as the services provided by the doctor.The OphthalmicSurgical Counseloris a vital part of the clinical team and requires the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with a diverse patient base. They assist all physicians with counseling prospective patients who have inquired about surgical services or any other information they may need.If you don't have all the skills listed below, don't be discouraged. So please apply.Explain surgery procedures to patients.Verify and be able to schedule Ascans, Pentacam/topography, Health history, Retina appointments, RK CL exams as needed prior to surgery.Pre-op patients 1 to 2 weeks before surgery which includes taking a health history, provide pre-op instructions, review risk and complications, complete all necessary paperwork, obtain and ensure all consents are signed, send prescriptions request to supervisor, update insurance information and collect any surgery deposits required.Send patients for lab testing if needed.Arrange transportation for patients when needed for surgery day.Review lens choices with patients and collect monies if they are a candidate.Review surgery schedule and premium lens choices with doctors before surgery.Scan all signed consents.Answer patient phone calls before and after surgery.Schedule in office procedures surgery, IPL procedures etc. and complete necessary paperwork.Other position appropriate office duties.Successful completion of JCAHPO Ophthalmic Certified Technician/Assistant or an Associate Degree preferredOphthalmology knowledge with related on-the-job experience preferred but not requiredPrevious surgical coordination experience preferred.Experience using Electronic Health Records systems, NextGen preferred.Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail.Demonstrate superior computer skills.Highly energetic with positive attitude.In Turn We Will Provide:Benefits to full time team members that include comprehensive medical, dental and optical coverage, 401K and short term disability.Company paid life insurance.Paid holidays and generous paid time off.Paid parking where applicable.Team oriented working environment where you are heard and respected.Clear career ladder opportunities.
