Summary GAMA-1 Technologies, LLC seeks an experienced IT Security Engineer III on upcoming work to support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise cybersecurity defenses within a federal telework environment. The incumbent is responsible for developing, tuning, and maintaining intrusion detection and security monitoring capabilities, executing vulnerability scans, developing and testing technical security controls, and supporting remediation efforts following assessments or penetration testing activities. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with FISMA, FedRAMP, and agency-specific cybersecurity requirements while maintaining strong situational awareness across enterprise systems.Supervisory Responsibilities NoneEssential functions/responsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Build, configure, and tune Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) content for near real-time monitoring and alerting.Execute credentialed vulnerability and configuration scans using approved federal tools and document results.Develop, implement, and test technical security controls in alignment with NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, and agency requirements.Create and maintain scripts or automation tools to streamline evidence collection, log analysis, and compliance reporting.Collaborate with system owners and administrators to remediate penetration test findings and vulnerability scan results.Support incident detection and response activities by providing log analysis, event correlation, and root cause insights.Participate in change management and risk assessment reviews to ensure proposed configurations maintain security posture.Assist in maintaining security documentation, standard operating procedures, and system security plans (SSPs).Stay current with evolving cybersecurity threats, technologies, and mitigation techniques.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without formation Security and Confidentiality ObligationsEnsure adherence to organizational information security policies and procedures; actively participate in mandatory security awareness training; and manage confidential and sensitive information in accordance with company protocols and data protection standards.Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).4-8 years of of progressive experience in security engineering or cybersecurity operations within enterprise or federal environments.Strong technical proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems, including system hardening and security configuration.Familiarity with FedRAMP, FISMA, and related federal security standards.Hands-on experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanning tools.Working knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or Bash) for automation or evidence collection.Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.SAP HANA exposure or experience supporting secure enterprise applications is desirable. Preferred QualificationsProfessional certifications as CISSP or GSEC, GIAC GCIA or GCED preferred, Security+ baseline.Experience working with Splunk, QRadar, Tenable, Nessus, or equivalent enterprise tools.Familiarity with network security architecture, firewall management, and endpoint protection solutions.Knowledge of incident response processes, forensic data analysis, and log correlation techniques.Security Clearance & EligibilityIn accordance with facility Special Security Requirements and Department of Justice (DOJ) policy, candidates must have legally resided in the United States for three of the past five years, worked for the U.S. Government or military overseas, or been a dependent of a U.S. Government or military employee serving overseas. Non-U.S. citizens must be from an allied nation as defined by the Office of Personnel Management. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of Bureau of Prisons investigative procedures, which may include NCIC and fingerprint checks, law enforcement and employment history verification, federal application/resume review, release of information, urinalysis, and, if applicable, a National Agency Check. No work may commence until all required background investigations and clearances have been fully adjudicated. Work environmentThis work will be performed primarily in a telework environment, with on-site duties required one day per week. Physical demandsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organizations and client facilities. Proficiency RequirementThe employee is expected to demonstrate proficiency in all essential job functions, tools, and processes related to this position within the first 90 days of employment. This includes acquiring a thorough understanding of job-specific responsibilities, systems, and workflows as outlined during onboarding and training. Failure to meet this requirement may result in additional training, reassessment, or other actions as deemed necessary by management.Employment is contingent upon government approval and, if applicable, contract award.The base salary range for this position is $137,817 - $166,045This base salary range represents a general guideline.
