Paralegal Job Category: Service Contract Act Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: DOJ MBI Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Continental US The Opportunity: CACI is seeking a Paralegal (Legal Assistant I) to support the Department of Justiceu2019s mission. This position plays a critical role and involves working on high-profile cases. We are looking for candidates who are able to work in an office setting. Paralegal duties focus on litigation support and preparation for upcoming trials. This is an opportunity for you to provide case management and database maintenance assistance in a litigation support capacity. You will also gain invaluable experience using automated litigation support and eDiscovery tools and resources to add to your skillset. The Paralegal (Legal Assistant I) role works closely with federal prosecutors supporting the Health Care Fraud Unit in a fast-paced setting and assist in the investigation and prosecution of various matters to enforce the laws of the United States, up to and including support assistance for witness interviews, deposition preparation, and in-courtroom trial support. Please apply if you are interested to hear more Responsibilities: The Paralegal works under the direction of Supervisory Paralegal. In this role, you will perform litigation services while complying with established procedures, including but not, but not limited to the following: u2022 Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents. u2022 Summarizes depositions and other transcripts; maintains case files u2022 Performs simple legal research u2022 Indexes, tracks and controls document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery). u2022 Indexes, tracks and exhibits and other materials at depositions and at trial. u2022 Prepares exhibit cross-references. u2022 Assists attorneys in courtroom. u2022 Reviews documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria. u2022 Other examples of the types of work to be performed include compilation of documents for FOIA, production requests, Congressional inquiries, etc. Qualifications: _Required:_ u2022 Requires paralegal certificate, or a four-year college degree. u2022 Additionally, at least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (including internships) related to health care, project or document management, policy, research, government staffing, publishing; or equivalent experience. u2022 Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. u2022 Requires technological proficiency in Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). u2022 Must have an understanding on how electronically stored information (computer files) work within an operating system including experience effectively managing, organizing, and analyzing digital files and folders. u2022 Transferable skills related to Electronically Stored Information (ESI) tools and eDiscovery procedures and resources. The pay and benefits provided for this position will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and made applicable to this position, as incorporated into CACIu2019s government contract for the work location.u200b Minimum Req uired Hourly Wage: $23.58 There are a host of other factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographical location, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
