Reference #: REQ02770Job ResponsibilitiesThe primary role of the Tax Department intern will be to assist the members of the Tax Department with the preparation of various corporate tax returns. These include, but are not limited to, Federal and state income tax returns, state property tax returns, and state sales and use tax returns. To succeed in this role, the Tax Department intern will be required to work closely and efficiently with other members of the Tax Department. The Tax Department intern will also be required to interact and communicate effectively with members of Koppers' Finance Department and other departments to gather data and incorporate that data into certain tax calculations.Certain tasks that the Tax Department intern will perform include, but are not limited to the following:Preparing certain tax return forms within tax return compliance softwarePreparing certain tax return supporting calculationsCalculating certain book-to-tax adjustmentsResponding to tax authority notices via phone or by submitting written responsesGathering and summarizing state apportionment dataQualificationsEducation/Experience:Progression towards bachelor's degree with a major or concentration in accountingKnowledge of accounting principles and practicesKnowledge of tax and finance principlesKnowledge of financial reportingBasic computer skillsSkills:Attention to detail and accuracyPlanning and organizingScheduling and monitoringCommunication skillsProblem analysis and problem-solving skillsInitiativeTeamworkConfidentialityKoppers Inc. and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity employers.
