ABOUT THE POSITIONVHB’s Watertown, MA office is looking for an entry-level Water Resources Engineer/Scientist with 0-1 years of experience to work with our existing water resource group and support our work in the areas of stormwater regulatory compliance work, stormwater policy and guidance development, among others. Work would begin in the summer/fall 2026 and consist of a hybrid work setting.ResponsibilitiesProvide support for stormwater regulatory compliance programs for state and local government clientsPerform field investigations including, but not limited to, stormwater system inspections, construction site inspections, stormwater system mapping, and water quality samplingDevelop data management tools in ArcGIS, including ArcGIS OnlineCollect, analyze, and interpret data to support water quality studies and plansPerform analysis of spatial data using GIS technology (e.g., buffering, spatial overlays, distance calculations)Develop innovative approaches for internal and client workflowsPrepare technical reports, graphics, and guidance documentsSupport the development of federal, state, and local permit applicationsSupport stormwater program funding approaches, including preparing grant applications and developing stormwater enterprise fundsSkills and AbilitiesExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsHighly motivatedAbility to solve problems and think creativelyDetail-oriented and highly organizedAbility to think criticallyTeam orientedStrong computer skills with experience with ArcGIS desiredExperience with Microsoft Office SuiteFamiliarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or Arcade, a plusFamiliarity with regulations associated with water quality and stormwater discharges desiredQualifications0-1 years of civil/ environmental engineering experienceBS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environment Science or related fieldMS strongly desiredAbility to perform field work and travel to project sitesOur best estimate of the salary range for this position is $80,000-83,000.
