We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.Scope of Job: Under specific direction from the site manager and supervision of an experienced technician, this position will assist experienced technicians with conducting maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of wind turbines and/or photovoltaic power and energy storage systems. Work location: Ivanhoe, Minnesota.Required Training: Each Renewable Energy Technician will attend mandatory five (5) week training and certification course at the start of their employment. The exact duration will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The training is in Albert Lea, MN, and travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided.Core Responsibilities OverviewWhile both roles focus on the safe and efficient operation of renewable assets, your level of responsibility and autonomy will differ based on the position you qualify for.RolePrimary FocusOn-the-Job AutonomyTechnician 1Assists experienced technicians with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. Focuses on learning and applying safety protocols.Works under specific direction and direct supervision.Technician 2Performs preventative maintenance independently and conducts troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades.Responsible for independent preventative maintenance and participates in the 24-hour 'On Call' rotation.Shared Responsibilities (Applicable to Both Roles)Maintain company property and equipment safely.Complete daily work orders, time tracking, and administrative documentation.Adhere to all safety protocols, including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures.Attend all required safety and technical training.Renewable Energy Technician 1 (Entry-Level)Requirement TypeDetailsExperience0 to 2 years in the renewable energy sector or an equivalent field.EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent required.Knowledge/SkillsBasic computer knowledge and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Knowledge of electronics/mechanical components is a plus.CertificationAbility to successfully complete all required safety and technical training upon hire.OtherMust possess a valid driver’s license.Renewable Energy Technician 2 (Experienced)Requirement TypeDetailsExperience2 to 4 years of experience in renewable energy or a similar discipline.EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent required.Knowledge/SkillsBasic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components. Basic understanding of schematics and the correct use of a multi-meter. Familiarity with CSA Z462 / NFPA 70E.CertificationMust meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards and hold the following certifications (or equivalent): OSHA 10, GWO Basic Safety Training (BST), GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT), GWO CoHE, GWO Slinger and Signaler, NFPA 70E and 70B.OtherMust possess a valid driver’s license.Physical and Working Conditions (Applicable to Both Roles)Field Work: 100% of time is spent in the renewable asset field, with marginal office work.Work at Height: Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and structures to heights of over 300 feet (91 meters) and work at those heights in confined spaces.Conditions: Comfortable working in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain) and in an electrical-mechanical environment with high voltage/stored energy.Lifting: Ability to regularly lift to 35 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.Safety Restriction (Wind only): Due to weight restrictions for fall-arrest equipment, the maximum employee weight must not exceed 285 lbs.
