Please note this is a full time Per Diem role, with potential to be hired full time in the future for this role or for other new positions.The Onsite Behavioral Health Counselor is responsible for counseling individuals, groups or families to diagnose and treat mental health disorders. The responsibilities also include referring clients to specialists, monitoring progress during treatment and creating a comfortable environment where clients can be treated. This BH professional will treat clients with emotional, behavioral and mental disorders. They may work in conjunction with psychologists and psychiatrists, and refer patients to these specialists as they see fit.Responsibilities and Essential FunctionsConduct regular appointments with clients who wish to converse with a mental health professionalEstablish positive and trusting relationships with clientsScreen and assess patients for common mental health and substance use disorders, leveraging evidence based toolsProvide patient education about common mental health and substance use disorders, as well as available evidenced based treatments.Implement various treatments and protocols to provide guidance and appropriately address client situations using evidenced based techniquesContinually assess client situations and provide the proper ongoing treatmentsEducate and involve family members or other loved ones in the treatment process when necessaryWhen required, partner with plan and community resources to make referrals to outside sources or agencies that can augment or better address their specific needsCoordinate care after an acute event including emergency department presentation or inpatient admission in collaboration with the patient’s provider and population health teamCoordinate with patient’s care plan team in order to ensure holistic careMaintain the strictest confidentiality of each and every client situationMaintain all required licenses and the appropriate insuranceParticipate in clinical team meetings as assignedAbility to work in the office in Santa Ana CAMinimum QualificationsLCSW, LPC or LMFTCurrent, unrestricted license(s) in California; additional state licenses a plusMust have an Independent LicenseMust have at least 2 years of therapy experienceExperience with population managementExperience working with First RespondersMHFA and Emergency Responder & Public Safety Clinical Certification is preferred; but willing to work with new hire to obtain this after hireThis role will be based in the office in Santa Ana, California.
