Machinist and Lathe Operator - 1st Shift

AIM Heat Exchangers, a family-owned manufacturer of custom shell and tube heat exchangers seeks a full-time Machinist/Lathe Operator to work 1st shift.Job Summary: Set up and operate a variety of equipment to machine parts according to specifications. Perform a variety of operations in the machine shop.Essential Duties:Set up and operate machines such as lathes, drills, saws, and millsPrimary duty will be lathe operatorRead blueprints to determine product specifications and material neededPerform all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standardsMarking machined parts with heat numbers for material traceabilityCommunicate with co-workers and supervisors to receive instructions and coordinate activitiesFollow all safety proceduresDrive a forklift to transport materialOperate overhead cranePerform minor machine repair such as oiling or cleaning machinesOther duties as assignedSkills:Knowledge of machines and tools including drilling, tapping and layoutAbility to use measuring devices such as calipersStrong math skills including ability to convert decimals to fractionsAble to read and understand blueprintsExperience in working with different types of materialsHold tight tolerancesDocumentation with attention to details and accuracyAbility to operate CNC machines a plusThe ideal candidate will be a team player with the desire to learn and increase their value to the company over time. Must be willing to perform a variety of functions.Experience:3-5 years of machining experienceSome personal tools may be requiredCertifications:Forklift operationOverhead crane operationNYS driver's licenseEducation:High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum 3 years experience
