Job summary: During the Fellowship, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job experience and contribute to real-world projects in the professional area of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). As a Fellow, you will perform many of the same tasks as our current EHS professionals. The fellowship is typically 12 weeks in length, per the Hiring our Heroes cohort schedule and is paid per the Department of Defense Skillbridge program policy. What you will do: Identifies common safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organization's operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards. Ensures EHS training is completed to comply with regulatory requirements or in support of facility, division, or enterprise objectives. Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions. Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions, alerts line management to problems and makes recommendations for improvement. Basic Qualifications: Strong leadership abilites. Working knowledge of safety policy compliance; to include policy design and implementation. Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations. Eligible to participate in a Skillbridge Fellowship and willing to partner with Hiring Our Heroes as part of cohort 24-3. Must be able to relocate to Brooklyn Park, MN for the duration of the fellowship, and complete daily work commute using reliable transportation. Top candidates will also have: Strong initiative, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong decision making, critical thinking, and tactical and strategic planning skills Academic credentials in the focus area of the fellowship. Intermediate user of Microsoft Office products
