Employer Name: CUNY Hunter College Assistant Vice President for Facilities Planning & Operations POSITION DETAILS Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks an experienced senior executive to work with a large staff in creating, upgrading and maintaining the facilities infrastructure that serve as a resource to the college community. Hunter?s urban campus consists of 2.7M square feet housed in a mix of buildings across four campuses and several small townhouses near the main 68th Street Campus. The Assistant Vice President for Facilities, Planning and Capital Projects will report to the Vice President of Operations and serves as the College?s chief officer for the direction, planning, coordination and administration of activities involving Campus Planning and development, Physical Plant Services, custodial and skilled trades, and central receiving. The position also manages scoping capital projects for submission of the annual Five-Year Capital Plan requests, scoping projects for annual local Reso A funding, and advising the faculty and staff for facilities needs related to various other grant applications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ? Supervising the functions of the Executive Director of Facilities, providing leadership to the skilled trades, maintenance and laborers, custodial staff, technical staff, procurement, and administrative support positions including project managers and planning staff. ? Formulates strategic planning for all operations areas, including staffing levels, managing performance standards consistent with college-wide needs across all campuses. ? Serves as the College representative for developing and assisting with updating and implementing the College Master Plan in coordination with the goals of the College Strategic Plan. ? Assists the Vice President for Operations with the acquisition of real estate to meet the College?s demands for space to meet academic and administrative needs; develops and implements protocols for managing campus facilities including routine maintenance, special projects, privately funded projects, and projects under the supervision of the City University Construction Fund (CUCF) and the Dormitory Authority of New York (DASNY). ? Assists with the management of the Facilities and Planning annual budgets of $14M efficiently to help ensure that procurements follow appropriate rules and regulations. ? Collaborates with other senior executives and Deans at the College to develop and advocate for capital budget; upgrades and improves facilities to meet Hunter?s Master Plan, academic Strategic Plan, Mission and Performance Standards. ? Assists with managing and procuring maintenance contracts; develops productivity goals and operational improvements and best practices for highest and best use of the College operating budget and University. ? Provides an important leadership role and coordinates capital projects with University Sustainability and Decarbonization Taskforce initiatives. ? Participates in the College Crisis Management Taskforce. ? Assists the VP for Operations and AVP of Communications in facilitating positive communications and relationships with neighborhoods surrounding all campuses; includes representing the College when requested with external parties in collaborative and negotiated relationships pertaining to planning and capital projects. ? Represents the VP for Operations as requested at College and University Committees. ? Performs other duties as requested by the Vice President of Operations. QUALIFICATIONS This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. Additional qualifications are defined below by the College. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must have a Master?s degree in a related field with at least fifteen years of experience including 10-years of progressive managerial experience to be considered. Successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and organization skills as well as excellent judgment. Preference given to candidates with public sector managerial experience and knowledge of building codes and regulations.
