If youu2019re looking for a career where you can make a difference, grow professionally, and be part of a caring team, weu2019d love for you to apply for the _Academic Advisor_ position today Click here to learn more about Galen ( ? _This position is on-campus at either our Dallas, Houston, or Austin campus._ Position Overview: As a Academic Advisor at Galen College of Nursing, you will assist students in their growth and development as nursing students by serving as the studentu2019s primary point of contact while providing guidance and resource referrals as the student progresses through the program. Advisors will assist students by constructing and monitoring advising plans to support student retention and program completion. Key Responsibilities: 1. Meets regularly with advisees to facilitate a collaborative relationship between advisor and student. 2. Monitors and advises identified at-risk students, including, but not limited to, students who are readmitted, repeating courses, and students with marginal grades in target courses. 3. Collaborates with targeted advisees to create personalized advising plans. 4. Monitors student compliance with personalized advising plans. 5. Participates in the collection of data to identify issues affecting student progression. 6. Assists leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating proactive plans to address student concerns. 7. Collaborates with faculty, staff, and academic leadership regarding studentsu2019 academic performance and resource referral needs. 8. Responds to escalated alerts for assigned students. 9. Collaborates with college-wide and campus leadership to facilitate orientation and other events to promote student success. 10. Develops and hosts workshops and produce related student resources according to the advisoru2019s expertise. 11. In collaboration with the advising team, creates, implements, and maintains advising resources for the college. 12. Collaborates with the enrollment team and the Office of Academic Records in order to provide support for students during the enrollment process. 13. Maintains documentation of all student interactions in the Student Information System. 14. Collaborates with campus leadership and campus Retention Council on campus-wide retention initiatives. 15. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: + Education: Minimum Bacheloru2019s degree with a major in education or related field. Masters degree preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education. + Special Qualifications: Effective interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to utilize remote technology in order to connect with students. Advisors should plan for extended hours during pre-registration advising. + Degree of Supervision: Dependent upon experience.
