Job Description: Campus Title: Assistant Professor of Education State Job Title: Assistant Professor Department: Education Job Code: HA3200 FLSA Status: Exempt Funding: 7115-0100 Bargaining Unit: MSCA Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, Tenure Timeframe: Academic Calendar Shift: TBD Regular Days Off:Saturday and Sunday Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Chair of Education Supervision Exercised: None Salary: $70,000.00-$73,000.00 (Commensurate with Education and Experience) General Statement of Duties Candidates with expertise in Early Childhood Education will be considered, especially those with experience in Early Childhood Special Education. Successful candidates will be able teach foundational and pedagogical courses, including Early Education and Care, Early Language and Literacy, Early Intervention, and foundational Special Education courses. The candidate will teach at the undergraduate level, advise undergraduates, and participate actively in the university community. The candidate will additionally participate in program development and engagement with the local and state level Early Education and Care community to develop more opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers in Early Education and Care.The candidate will additionally be expected to engage in the department-wide anti-racism education work that seeks to promote the development and expansion of faculty and student knowledge and understanding in applying critical theories and culturally sustaining practices. Requirements: Required Qualifications: Earned Doctoral degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education or related fieldMinimum of 3 years teaching experience in Early Education and Care programs, special education school settings or PK-2 public school settings Preferred Qualifications: Prior teaching experience in higher educationEarly Childhood or Moderate Disabilities Massachusetts teacher licensureExperience with MA policies and practices related to IFSP and IEP implementationTeaching experience in early care (infant, toddler) and/or PK-2 setting in urban schools and communitiesExperience aligning courses with MA Early Education and Care standards/competenciesExperience working with families and communities to support the learning and development of very young childrenExperience with flexible format for course delivery (day, evening; in person, hybrid, online)Evidence of effective use of learner-centered pedagogies and culturally relevant/sustaining practicesMultilingual In response to the Presidential Proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposing a significant fee on the entry of individuals with new H-1B visas, this position may not be eligible for visa sponsorship.Westfield State University will continue to comply with all applicable state and federal regulations regarding employment-based visa sponsorship.
