General Job Information Job SummaryThis position is located in the District of Columbia, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), Office of the Deputy Chief Medical Examiner, Emergency Management and Response Unit. The position provides administrative and logistical support for the purchase, maintenance, deployment, and training on the use of resources, supplies, and equipment utilized in local and regional fatality management exercises and incidents.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists the Supervisor in the selection and purchase of resources, supplies, and equipment for utilization by agency personnel in fatality management training exercises or incidents. This includes assisting in the determination of and provision to the appropriate entities documentation requirements and the development and maintenance of a cache inventory and equipment tracking methodologies, including manual, database, and barcode systems.Supports the Supervisor in creating a plan to manage logistical challenges involved in the mobilization and demobilization of OCME emergency response equipment and vehicles. He/she shall assist in the development of procedures for cache and equipment rehabilitation and resupply before, during, and after training or incident deployment. Assists in developing logistics trainings to include equipment setup, maintenance, and demobilization. Maintains a tracking log recording equipment issuances, repairs and returns, and perform regularly scheduled inspections and inventories of items (, supplies and equipment) maintained by the Emergency Management and Response Unit and any special inventories required.Qualifications and EducationMust possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the CS-6 grade level. Specialized experience is experience that is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.An Associate’s degree in forensics, medical, or mortuary science or a related field and two (2) years of experience is preferred.Licensure and CertificationMust possess a valid driver’s license. A Commercial driver’s license (CDL) and/or Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC, CVEO) is preferred.Working Conditions/EnvironmentWork is performed both indoors and outdoors as well as using assigned vehicles. Frequent exposure to the elements and work in harsh environments is to be expected. Work will also be performed in non-climate-controlled warehouse settings. The work involves potential exposure to health hazards such as human blood and body fluids, hazardous agents, potentially carcinogenic and corrosive substances, malfunctioning electrical appliances, open flames and fumes, pressurized gas, etc. The selected candidate must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing work in hazardous environments.Other Significant FactsTour of Duty: 8:15 - 4:45 Duration of Appointment:Career Service - Career ServiceAppointmentPay Plan, Series, and Grade: CS-2005-07Salary Range: $57, - $72,; based on fundingCollective Bargaining Unit:This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement, and you may be required to pay an agency service fee (union dues) through direct payroll deduction.Promotion Potential:No known promotion potentialArea of Consideration: Open to the PublicPosition Designation:This position is deemed as “security” sensitive and “emergency” per DPM Chapters 4 (Suitability) and 12 (Essential/Emergency).
