Overview The Penguin Publishing Group is seeking a Publishing & Marketing Assistant to join the central publishing office and marketing strategy team. This position will report to both the Senior Director of Marketing Strategy & Publishing Operations and the Assistant Director of Marketing Strategy, while also providing dedicated administrative support to PPG’s President. This unique position provides an opportunity to learn about publishing from a big picture standpoint while working creatively and collaborating in a close-knit group. The central team acts as a hub for communication, support, and services vital to making our division run. The role involves working with marketers, publicists, editors, designers, sales reps, and PRH consumer marketing, and could include creating social content, collecting materials for sales meetings, refreshing displays, contributing to campaigns, and assisting with events and planning. Responsibilities Providing administrative support to the divisional president, including processing expense reports, setting up meetings and calendar maintenance, booking corporate travel, and assisting with hybrid meeting setups. Managing and assisting with seasonal sales marketing projects, liaising with sales reps, editors, title marketers, managing editors, and operations. Scheduling, hosting, and preparing agendas/materials for seasonal divisional sales meetings. Assisting with planning and execution of events and programs organized through the publishing office. Assisting with planning and execution of PPG’s divisional presence at annual consumer conventions (e.g., Comic Con and BookCon). Serving as a general office manager for the PPG floors: ordering/restocking supplies, refreshing book displays, coordinating with office services, managing desks/floor plans, and responding to employee requests. Contributing to content curation and account maintenance across Penguin USA social media (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram/Threads, X, Substack, LinkedIn): writing copy, scheduling posts, monitoring accounts, brainstorming campaigns, staying on trends, tracking reporting, and handling direct messages from consumers. Collecting imprint and divisional title priorities for and heritage month campaigns. Creating and updating landing pages for weekly campaigns, sweepstakes, events, and more. Assisting with requests, maintenance, and routine updates; acting as a resource for internal users who need troubleshooting. Assisting with planning and execution of the annual Penguin Hotline holiday campaign. Assisting with planning and execution of divisional heritage month campaigns. Qualifications Ability to work from the NY office 3 days per week Genuine interest in marketing, book publishing, and social media Comfortable interacting with all levels of management including C-suite Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team Proficient (or advanced) understanding of social media platforms, particularly TikTok, Instagram, and Threads Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Basic understanding of additional tools such as Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, WordPress, Microsoft Teams, and Canva is a plus Some office experience (remote or in person) is a plus Compensation & Benefits The salary for this position is $51,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results. This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
