Summary This announcement is for a Medical Instrument Technologist (Gastroenterology).This position is located at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System, Richmond Virginia, Gastroenterology Section. Responsibilities Duties Include but not limited to: Performs and /or assists in diagnostic examination Scheduling and coordination of special procedures, preparation and logistics of patients and operation Maintenance of bio-medical equipment including video endoscopes and fluoroscopy diagnostic equipment Assessing and monitoring the patient prior to, during and immediately after the procedure(s). Utilizing special monitoring equipment for assessing possible arrhythmias, heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation Demonstrate the ability to maintain adequate inventory of supplies in endoscopy rooms Assists in obtaining biopsies, brushing, polypectomy, and inflation of balloon dilators or injection of dye during ERCP. Prepares diagnostic biopsy specimens, assessing the adequacy of each, properly orienting the biopsy, and placing in proper specimen bottle with appropriate labeling. Maintains adequate inventory of supplies in endoscopy, fluoroscopy, and palliative treatment suites. Places orders and follows through on obtaining any deficient supplies/equipment. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:30-4:00pm (Day shift with call expectations) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
