Food Service Assistant

TITLE: Food Service Assistant POSITION NO: P00821SECTION: Florida Public Safety Institute HIRING SALARY: $31,255.86 - $34,409.93 annually; all salary calculations to start at the minimum salary. HOURS: Monday - Friday; hours may vary between 6 AM and 6:30 PM at 40 hours a week. Hours may accommodate 5-day openings. FUNCTION: The Food Service Assistant is housed at the Florida Public Safety Institute in Quincy, FL. and reports to the Dining Facilities Manager. The Food Service Assistant primary responsibility will be preparing, cooking meats, vegetables, soups, gravies, and potatoes. The Food Service Assistant will also prepare bake goods, sauces, salad items and soups and prepares baking pans, sets oven temperatures and monitors cooking times, operates ovens and grills. The position also cleans equipment and utensils, maintains sanitary conditions in work and storage areas, cleans grills, stoves, ovens, cooking vats, and serving areas, and serves patrons at food counters. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or an equivalent and one year of experience serving, preparing, and/or cooking meats, vegetables, soups, gravies, and other items.SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of basic food service safety and sanitation procedures and requirements. Skill in operating and maintaining food preparation equipment. Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to prioritize and complete work. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to make independent decisions or judgments. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
