Job Description The Temporary Retail Dining Employee supports campus dining retail centers and cafés by preparing, serving, and handling food in a safe and sanitary manner. This role assists with food preparation, service, cashiering, and maintaining a clean and organized dining environment. Education and Experience Must have three plus months of previous food service experience. Must have some experience working with dough products. Skills and Knowledge The ability to read, write, and follow instructions. The ability to communicate well with the public, ability to use calculator, food thermometer, and computerized cash register. Responsibilities Prepare a variety of simple foods for retail franchises: casseroles, convenience foods, frozen foods, simple meats, etc. Clean and prepare lettuce and other ingredients to make salads. Make French fries, hot and cold sandwiches, coffee, cook omelets, burgers, etc. Slice meat, cut cake, pie, prepare assorted dough pizzas, etc. Take food to serving lines and replenish as needed. Assist by serving on buffet line as needed, including sandwich bars, hot lines, salad bar, etc. Use a computerized cash register terminal to add the cost of food and make digital currency transactions. Maintain cashier islands, including restocking condiments, cleaning tables, chairs, etc. Receive stock, and check deliveries against order forms and deliver documents. Rotate and date stock so items are used before expiration. Move items from storage areas to kitchen as directed. Take weekly inventory of products in storeroom, freezer, cooler, etc. Fill out appropriate paper work for computerized service records and food production sheets. Proper storage of food items, cold vs hot, raw vs cooked. Observe safety and health regulations and maintain highest standards of sanitation. Physical Requirements On daily basis standing, bending, stooping, walking, and lifting between 15-50 pounds. Must be able to work with dust, fumes, and solvents daily. Tools/Equipment Operate a variety of equipment, including but not limited to: POS terminal, food slicer, grill, deep fryer, convection oven, steamer, dish washer, deck ovens, mixer, steam kettle, tilt brazier, buffalo chopper, charcoal broiler, coffee makers, juice machines, cleaning of all kitchen equipment/hoods, grills, slicers, dishwasher etc.
