Posting Information Job Summary/Basic Function The Assistant Director of the Center for Sustainability Education (CSE) will assist the Executive Director of CSE with creating and enhancing opportunities for students to learn about sustainability in and beyond the classroom, supporting college-wide advancement of sustainability values and practices, and engaging the Dickinsonians and community members with sustainability events, projects, and programs to promote life-long learning. The Assistant Director will oversee the functions of The Hive, The Handlebar, and Free xChange, assist with overall management and strategic direction of CSE, lead selected initiatives, hire, supervise, and mentor student interns and volunteers, and develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for communicating sustainability-related activities and achievements of Dickinson College to internal and external audiences.Essential Functions: Academic and Experiential learning: Coordinate experiential learning through Dickinson’s Living Laboratories (The Hive, The Handlebar, and Free xChange) for sustainability, curricular, and co-curricular programming for Dickinsonians. Assist in the development, implementation, assessment, and improvement of interdisciplinary curriculum and faculty development programs that advance sustainability learning and research. Administration of CSE: Contributes to the overall vision, strategy, budget, data management, and programming decisions of the CSE. Manages student intern and volunteer programs, including recruitment, hiring, retention, professional development, and assessment. Lead projects and assist in administrative duties to advance the effectiveness of CSE. Communication & Outreach: Fulfill strategy for sustainability-related communications and reporting to maintain visibility and leadership in the local, regional, national, and international sustainability education communities. Communicate sustainability data, related activities, and achievements of Dickinson College to internal and external audiences using the web, listservs, social media, digital media, webinars, and public events in innovative ways. Engagement: Coordinate sustainability education programs for stakeholders in college, community, and global initiatives. Serves as the administrative liaison to various committees and units and works with a broad range of partners to provide coordination, facilitation, communication, event planning, and record-keeping support that advances sustainability at Dickinson. Preferred Qualifications Required:Bachelor’s degree - Sustainability related fieldPreferred:Master’s degree - Education, Environmental Studies, and/or Sustainability A valid Driver's Licence is required. Employees (operators) must have been in possession of a valid operator’s license for not less than three (3) years and the license must have been in good standing without interruption during that time period. No Successful candidate will also be required to complete ACT 153 Clearance No This position is considered "Emergency Staff." As such they may be required to report to work even when the college is closed or is operating under a delayed start.
