Job Description

Under supervision, to perform work involving the delivery of basic services and care to behavioral health patients. Performs selected patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team providing support to the patient's therapeutic treatment plan.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)Provides care services related to the type of scheduled activity on the unit and treatment plan, including recreational, art, media, self-expression, physical exercise, etc.Assists patients and other staff with ambulation, transfers and repositioning as needed.Assists with the patient's activities of daily living, including such activities as bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, feeding, etc.Measures and obtains and records and reports patient's vital signs, weight, I&O, glucometer testing, etc.Monitors patients based upon safety precautions as assigned.JOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements)KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESAbility to clearly communicate with the multidisciplinary team members Post high school education may be substituted for the work experience requirement on a year for year basis.EDUCATIONHigh School Diploma/GED Equivalent General Studies Required One (1) year of work experience as a healthcare provider, preferably in a behavior health setting, or a closely related field is required. 1 Healthcare/Medical Required Certified Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR Meets the Standards of Behavior as outlined in Personnel Policy and Procedure #1, Employee Relations Code. CONFIDENTIALITY/HIPAA/CORPORATE COMPLIANCE Demonstrates knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family, organizational and other medical information. Understands and supports the commitment of Methodist Hospitals in adhering to federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing ethical business practices for healthcare providers.
