Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Humble, Texas. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting various reporting functions. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organization within the energy/natural resources sector, in a HYBRID work environment Responsibilities: u2022 Maintain and manage general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). u2022 Perform month-end and quarter-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations. u2022 Prepare variance analysis reports to compare actual financial results against budgets and prior periods, providing insights into key discrepancies. u2022 Process and review complex journal entries across multiple departments, ensuring all transactions are supported by proper documentation. u2022 Develop and deliver internal financial reports and schedules for management and business unit leaders. u2022 Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently. u2022 Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance internal controls. u2022 Assist with audit preparations by compiling schedules and documentation needed for external reviews. u2022 Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and established financial controls. Requirements u2022 Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. u2022 At least 3 years of progressive experience in corporate or public accounting, with a focus on general ledger management. u2022 Proficiency in preparing journal entries, conducting variance analysis, and performing month-end close procedures. u2022 Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and its practical application. u2022 Experience with large-scale accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite. u2022 Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. u2022 Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with strong communication skills. u2022 Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
