Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Field - Lead multi-location snapbean variety trial to characterize horticultural traits to identify promising breeding lines that can be evaluated across Southeast US for potential release. Percentage of time Duties/Responsibilities Greenhouse - Lead trichome characterization in pepper and tomato in relation to host resistance. Assist the internal collaborators with whitefly and other insect screening. Minimum Qualifications Position Summary - Lead plant breeding and pre-breeding research in START-UP SETTING since it is relatively new breeding program and it is TIME DEMANDING.- Strong knowledge of breeding methods used in vegetable breeding.- Handle and operate analytical biochemistry, molecular biology, and high-throughput phenotyping equipments and tools.- Understand statistical principles and applications to be applied in breeding research.- Excellent oral and written communication skills.- Interest in collaborative research and ability to work in multicultural team.- Obtain driving license and operate the vehicle. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position PhD in Plant Breeding or equivalent topicPrior experience in pre- and post-harvest biochemistry and physiology, electron microscopy, pre-breeding, genomic selection, disease resistance screening, and wet lab research. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Proficiency in script writing using Python or R Experience with generation and bioinformatic analysis of metabolomics, transcriptomics, and sequencing data. Physical Demands - We are looking for highly dedicated team member who would share our vision since this is a new breeding program and it is sort of a START-UP so it is very TIME DEMANDING.- We are looking for someone who is Go Getter and ready to take the challenge to complete the assigned task.-During the peak of the season, we work on the weekends and long hours to get things done.
