Job description: Altoona/Clear Brook, PA About This Route Join our dedicated team serving Norfolk Southern Railway, a partnership we've proudly maintained for nearly 20 years. This is a stable, solo driver position (no slip seat) operating out of Altoona, PA, transporting critical railroad parts and equipment across a multi-state region. Position Overview Location: Altoona, PA (Hiring within 75-mile radius) Route: Virginia, Indiana, Ohio & Pennsylvania Weekly Mileage: 2,400-2,800 miles Schedule: Monday-Saturday Home Time: Home daily Monday-Thursday, 1 layover Friday, return home Saturday evening Compensation & Benefits Pay Structure Starting Pay: $0.58/mile (increases to $0.59/mile after 12 months) Hourly Rate: $18.00/hour Average Weekly Pay: $1,800 - $1,900 Average Annual Pay: $93,000 - $98,000 Bonuses New Hire Transition Bonus: $500 (paid on second paycheck) Accessorial Pay Stop Pay: $14 per stop (starts at 1st stop) Tailgating: $10 per tailgate (driver assists with moving freight to trailer tail) Delay Pay: $17/hour for stops exceeding 60 minutes (max $70, first hour unpaid) Breakdown Pay: $17/hour for equipment failures/repairs (max 9 hours) Job Responsibilities Make deliveries and pickups throughout VA, IN, OH & PA Swap loaded trailers with other drivers Combination of drop-and-hook and tailgating operations Handle 24/7 operation requirements including weekends and holidays Transport railroad parts and equipment (approximately 20% will be broken-down locomotive parts requiring Hazmat certification) Park at Norfolk Southern facility in Altoona (200 North 4th Ave, Altoona, PA 16601) or other approved secure locations Requirements Essential Qualifications Valid Class A CDL Hazmat endorsement (REQUIRED) Minimum 6 months of recent tractor-trailer experience Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Must reside within 75-mile radius of Altoona, PA Willingness to work holidays (except Christmas Day) Available for weekend work as part of 24/7 operation Job Type: Full-time Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Work Location: In person
