Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse performs assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the Veteran. Responsibilities Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties Include but not limited to: Perform assigned duties to promote quality health care. Ensure positive customer service. Maintain an environment committed to serving Veterans. Function under guidance of Nurse Manager or designee. Exhibit advanced technical competence and skill. Perform nursing tasks requiring advanced skills. Provide practical nursing care to various patient populations. Be responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice. Initiate, perform, and complete assigned nursing care duties. Carry out patient care based on patient condition. Use judgment in selecting order and sequence of procedures. Recognize, report, and record relevant patient information in EHR. Make accurate observations and thoroughly document care. Inform RN or LIP of changes in patient condition requiring higher-level intervention. Perform, report, and document oxygen therapy. Administer medications, including IV medication if certified. Perform delegated procedures and treatments. Assist with minor procedures, including obtaining necessary equipment. Monitor patient positioning, ensuring comfort and privacy. Complete clinical reminders, consults, and alerts as indicated. Check expiration dates on medications and supplies. Assess and identify cardiac rhythms. Adhere to practices and techniques in medication preparation and administration. Demonstrate understanding of age-specific and population-specific healthcare needs. Recognize and respond to urgent or emergent patient care situations. Provide patient and family health education. Support patient self-management, prevention, and wellness. Interact and communicate appropriately with patients and families. Show respect and professional behavior towards others. Accept and apply constructive criticism. Maintain effective communication and interpersonal skills. Follow principles of infection control and universal precautions. Handle and pre-clean reusable medical devices properly. Utilize special equipment needed for job duties competently. Follow policy and procedures for fire and disaster drills. Implement safety and security measures. Demonstrate initiative in job duties. Assist in the orientation of new staff and students. Validate competency of peers and clerical staff. Maintain confidentiality of patient information. Promote a positive work environment. Seek assistance when patient care situations escalate. Use EHR efficiently and accurately. Support patient's personal goals in care planning. Maintain clinical competency through ongoing education. Ensure cleanliness and organization of nursing areas. Manage and prioritize multiple patient care tasks. Adhere to ethical principles in nursing practice. Collaborate with healthcare team for optimal patient outcomes. Participate in continuous quality improvement projects. Report equipment malfunctions and maintenance needs. Provide emotional support to patients and families. Follow-up and monitor the effectiveness of care plans. Maintain accurate and timely documentation. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Participate in team meetings and briefings. Contribute to a culture of safety and quality improvement. Work Schedule: 7:30pm - 8:00am with every other weekend. Tour of Duty to be decided by supervisor Compressed/Flexible: Available. Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
