Associate General Counsel

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Associate General Counsel to join our team in the Greater Hartford area. This role is ideal for legal professionals with a strong background in alternative energy, commercial real estate, and corporate finance. You will play a vital part in advising on large-scale green energy projects and ensuring compliance with land-use and zoning regulations.Responsibilities: Provide legal counsel and strategic advice on commercial real estate transactions and acquisitions. Oversee land-use and zoning matters to ensure compliance with local and state regulations. Draft, review, and negotiate service agreements and contracts related to green energy projects. Collaborate with internal teams on corporate finance initiatives and transactions. Support the development and execution of large-scale commercial solar energy projects. Conduct legal research to address regulatory challenges and mitigate risks. Manage external counsel relationships for specialized legal matters. Ensure all legal documentation aligns with organizational goals and industry standards. Develop policies and procedures to streamline legal operations and compliance. Advise on real estate acquisitions and land-use planning strategies. Minimum of 4 years of in-house legal experience, preferably in the alternative energy sector. Proven expertise in land-use planning, zoning, and real estate law. Strong knowledge of real estate and corporate finance and service agreements (to include senior and mezzanine) Familiarity with commercial real estate transactions and acquisitions. Experience working on large-scale alternative energy Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions. Bar license in MA, CT, or NY required.
