Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:Job Summary: Cleans all areas of the hospital according to policies and procedures. Participates in the departments continuous quality improvement activities.Duties and Responsibilities:Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the facility and the environmental services department.Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.Complete work assignments in a timely manner.Utilizes the appropriate chemicals, supplies and cleaning techniques according to procedure and manufacturers recommendations.Uses and maintains equipment properly.Observes safety precautions at all times. Uses safety signs, WET FLOOR and ropes off section of floor for cleaning where appropriate.Always introduces self to patient, families and visitors.Reports safety hazards as appropriate.Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.Replenishes supplies, notifies the supervisor when supplies need to be ordered.Follows all infection control practices including hand hygiene techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions.Assists visitors with direction whenever requested.Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.Works day, evening or night shift as assigned.Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.Observes safety precautions at all times.Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out daily activity written or oral instruction.Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Requirements:Professional Requirements:Meets dress code standards; adheres to dress code of a specific unit. Appearance is neat and clean.Complete annual educational requirements.Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state federal and CMS regulations.Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized time system correctly.Ask supervisor if needing more education on task or system.Attends annual review and departmental in-services, as appropriate, and in a timely fashion.Attends department staff meetings.Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.Communicates the mission, vision, core values, ethics and goals of the facility as well as the focus statement of the department.Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.Actively participates in the department CQI activities.Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control.Regulatory Requirements:High School graduate or equivalent is preferred.Minimum of six months housekeeping in a healthcare facility is preferred.
