Job DescriptionJob DescriptionFleet MechanicJob Type: Full TimeHours: Monday - FridayLocation: 5355 Junction Road Lockport NY 14094Pay Range: $24-$29 per hour depending on experience Benefits:MedicalPTO401kTool ReimbursementBoot AllowanceJob Description:As a Level-II Diesel mechanic, with general direction from the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, youll be providing a wide range of maintenance services on company automotive vehicles including buses, vans, service vehicles, and propane powered vehicles.This is a journeyman position that requires significant technical training and /or experience. This is our mid-level technician role. A Level-II technician should be proficient with preventive service procedures. This Technician will also be tasked daily with more in-depth repairs to ensure the safety and operation of our vehicles. Including but not limited to bus specific body systems, brake systems, exhaust, limited engine/drive-train repairs, steering and suspension.Job Duties:Learn and use our maintenance tracking system to complete work orders and stay compliant on scheduled servicesPerforms thorough, accurate Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI)Follows schedule to complete all required PM maintenance operations including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotationWith direction from the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, performs unscheduled maintenance as needed such as DVIR repairsMust be able to utilize a ladder and other elevation equipment to access the roof of buses and elevated light fixtures for repairs and maintenanceMust operate CDL and Non-CDL vehicles (buses and van) to perform road tests, as well as shuttle in an out of the garage for repairs and maintenanceMust be able to operate bench grinder, torch, drill press, jack and jack stands, Sawzall, oil pumps, power washer, parts cleaner and other hand tools required to perform workPerform emergency roadside services as needed which may require operation of either replacement vehicle or utility truckEmergency conditions may require calls at home, extended hours, or weekend work when availableDocument repairs and parts on work orders completely and accuratelyMaintains tools and workplace so that conditions are neat and orderlyMust be thoroughly familiar with all safety provisions associated with vehicle maintenanceUnderstands and conforms to State EPA regulations regarding disposal of toxic waste substancesStrong understanding and abide by OSHA standards/provisionsPerforms other duties as requiredRequired Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentAt least (2) years experience as a mechanic in an automotive, school bus, trucking or heavy equipment environment, Diesel Mechanic or any equivalent combination of education and experiencePositive attitude and willingness to continue learning a mustProvide your own hand tools required for regular maintenanceCurrent State Driver's License with a clean driving record and ability to maintainKnowledge of tools, procedures, technical skills, and safety rules used in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and alternative powered equipmentOperational knowledge of motorized gasoline, diesel and alternative fueled vehicles, and shop equipment and toolsInspection of equipment and diagnose mechanical defectsThis position may require an employee to drive a vehicle.
