Today, we are a 12-bed acute care federally designated Critical Access Hospital and a 50-bed long-term care facility, which also includes a home healthcare agency, an 8-bed assisted living facility, and ambulance services. Our campus includes a medical clinic in Hallock and a satellite clinic in Karlstad, MN. We strive to provide highly personalized care to every patient and residentwe dont see them as numbers, but as family, neighbors, teachers, and community members.DEPARTMENT: Nutritional ServicesSUPERVISED BY: Manager of Nutritional ServicesSUPERVISES: NoneJOB SUMMARY:The Baker will play a crucial role in preparing a variety of baked goods, including bread, pastries, cakes and desserts to meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents and patients. The baker will be responsible for following recipes and dietary guidelines, ensuring food safety and sanitation standards, monitor inventory levels, maintaining clean baking area, and assisting with service during mealtimes and special events. In this role the baker will also support preparing breakfast meals for residents and patients. Primary Responsibilities Include: Check products for quality, and identify damaged or expired goods.Related occupationSet oven temperatures, and place items into hot ovens for baking. Check the quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met.Related occupationsCheck equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations, and perform maintenance or cleaning, as necessary.Combine measured ingredients in bowls of mixing, blending, or cooking machinery.Place dough in pans, molds, or on sheets, and bake in production ovens.Related occupationsSet time and speed controls for mixing machines, blending machines, or steam kettles so that ingredients will be mixed or cooked according to instructions.Related occupationsMeasure or weigh flour or other ingredients to prepare batters, doughs, fillings, or icings, using scales or graduated containers.JOB REQUIREMENTS:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:Proficiently be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.Must be able to work independently and be able to work effectively as a team member.Familiarity with use of food operation supplies and equipment.Basic knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients and equipment.Attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately and in timely. Basic knowledge of compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.Must possess the ability to support, encourage and strive for an excellent level of food services.Must have the ability to adapt to the personalities of residents and/or coworkers and use tact in all forms of communication.QUALIFICATIONS:High School Graduate or GED.Must be at least 18 years of age.Experience with food service operations in healthcare setting (nice to have).Basic understanding of food safety principles and regulations (nice to have).Must pass MN background check and fingerprinting.
