In this role, you will play a crucial part in the precision manufacturing of our cutting-edge hypersonic systems. Your responsibilities will include setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-precision parts and components based on engineering specifications and drawings. Additionally, you will mentor junior machinists and collaborate with engineering and production teams to continually optimize machining operations. Working independently and as part of a team, you will contribute to maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.Key Responsibilities:Mentor entry-level and junior machinists, providing guidance and support for their professional developmentCalculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematical skills and precision instruments like micrometers and vernier calipersMachine parts to specifications using tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grindersMeasure, examine, and test completed units to ensure they meet specifications using precision instrumentsOperate and maintain ST-45L lathes and VF-5XT mills to ensure optimal performanceDiagnose and resolve machine malfunctions by observing and listening to equipmentMaintain documentation, including process sheets, inspection reports, and CAM data, for part traceability and quality assuranceSelect and set cutting speeds, feed rates, and tools based on machining instructions and metal propertiesConduct in-process inspections and maintain documentationSupport, promote, and demonstrate VALTs core values Provide constructive feedback and praise to support team growthQualifications:Associate or bachelors degree in mechanical engineering technology (preferred)Minimum of 6-10+ years of experience in CNC machining, with experience in a senior or lead roleVocational training or job-related coursework (preferred)Expertise in machining processes, tool selection, and machine maintenanceProficiency in SolidWorks, blueprint reading, and GD&T interpretationExperience with programming and machining, including FANUC controlsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional manufacturing teamDeep understanding of production processes, quality control, and cost managementAbility to obtain and maintain secret/TS level security clearanceBenefits:Competitive salary Paid Overtime 100% Employer paid comprehensive health benefits 4% 401(K) Match Flexible working schedule Opportunities for professional development and advancement Exciting and challenging work environment Are you passionate about precision manufacturing and driving organizational success through expert machining skills and innovative practices?
