Hard-copy applicant packet must be returned with application, cover letter, resume, and at least three professional references by 4:30pm Friday, October 10, 2025.No interviews will be conducted until after applications are accepted and reviewed.---------------The City of Dayton, Tennessee is seeking applicants for the position of City Manager.The City Manager will report directly to the Mayor and City Council, and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the City of Dayton, including an approximately $61 million budget and 159 employees across multiple departments. The City of Dayton operates a water utility, sewer utility, electric utility and airport, for which the City Manager is responsible for oversight in addition to all other City departments. The City Manager will be responsible for the planning, directing, managing, and reviewing all activities and operations of the City among other duties assigned.About Us: The City of Dayton is a growing, scenic community located in East Tennessee and on the Tennessee River. Dayton is the perfect location for those interested in living in a smaller community but close to attractions offered by larger cities.Minimum Requirements for Position of City Manager:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent work experience).Preferred focus in public administration, management, business administration, finance or closely related field.Seven (7) years of experience as a municipal administrator.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Considerable knowledge of modern policies and practices of public administration. Working knowledge of municipal finance, human resources, public works, public safety, and community development.Skill in preparing and administering municipal budgets; skill in planning, directing and administering municipal programs; skill in operating the listed tools and equipment.Ability to prepare and analyze comprehensive reports; ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, city officials and the public; ability to efficiently and effectively administer a municipal government.Special Requirements: Must be bondable ; Must possess a valid Tennessee driver's license or be able to obtain one within thirty days of employment.Tools and Equipment Used: Requires frequent use of personal computer, including word processing and spreadsheet programs; calculator, telephone, copy machine and fax machine.The City offers a comprehensive benefits package, including participation in the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS).
