ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ELIGIBILITY LISTFOR THE POSITION OF FIREFIGHTERThe Penn Township Board of Commissioners and the Council of the Borough of Hanover announce they are beginning the process of establishing a Joint Eligibility List for the position of Firefighter. Applications for the position of Firefighter may be obtained at the Penn Township Municipal Building, 20 Wayne Avenue, Hanover PA 17331 or the Hanover Borough Office, 33 Frederick Street, Hanover PA 17331. Application packets may be picked up at either location Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Applications will be accepted until Friday October 31st, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. at the Penn Township Municipal Building or the Hanover Borough Office. Applicants shall submit a non-refundable testing fee of $50.00, made payable to Hanover Area Fire & Rescue attached to the completed application.General Qualifications: Every applicant for any position in the Fire Department shall possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma. In addition, every applicant must be a United States citizen, be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of Firefighter, and, prior to appointment, possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.Age and Residency: All applicants must have reached their 21st birthday before the deadline for submitting completed applications. Applicant must reside or agree to establish a residence in Penn Township or Hanover Borough or in close proximity within three (3) months after the date of appointment to be able to effectively perform their duties and responsibilities.PENN TOWNSHIP AND HANOVER BOROUGH are equal opportunity employers.
