HHM Talent is assisting a client search for a Corporate Controller for their automotive group based in Norcross, GA.We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Corporate Controller / Assistant CFO to oversee all accounting operations, financial planning, compliance, and internal controls across our automotive group. This role will serve as a key strategic partner to the CFO and executive leadership, helping drive financial performance, optimize reporting, and support sustainable business growth.This position is on track to become CFO in a few years. Key Responsibilities:Oversee the team of all day-to-day accounting operations including GL, AR, AP, payroll, and financial reportingEnsure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAPLead financial consolidation across all dealership locations and departmentsProvide variance analysis and financial commentary to managementPartner with external auditors and manage the audit processStrategic Planning & Budgeting:Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets and forecastsSupport long-range planning and cash flow managementAnalyze financial trends and KPIs, and advise leadership on risk and opportunitiesInternal Controls & Compliance:Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and proceduresEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local financial, tax, and legal requirementsOversee sales tax and regulatory filings for multi-state dealership operationsOperational Oversight:Collaborate with General Managers and department heads to support dealership profitabilityImplement process improvements to enhance efficiency and cost controlOversee inventory accounting, floorplan reconciliation, and manufacturer financial statement submissionLeadership & Team Management:Supervise and develop the accounting team, promoting a culture of accountability and growthSupport and coordinate with GM's at the dealership for compliance and accounting processFoster collaboration across departments to align financial goals with operational executionQualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA / CFA preferred)Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in automotive retail or dealership groupStrong knowledge of GAAP, dealership financial statements, and DMS systems (e.g., CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, Tekion)Proven leadership experience in managing multi-location or multi-entity operationsAdvanced Excel and ERP system proficiencyCompensation and Benefits:Competitive salary & bonus based on experiencePerformance bonuses and/or profit-sharing eligibilityHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidays
