Sr. Associate, Biology (Contract)About the CompanyWe are seeking a highly motivated Sr. Associate, Biology to join a fast-paced, agile biotech team in Thousand Oaks. This contract role will support ongoing cell-based assay development and execution, contributing to cross-functional research efforts in Chemistry, DMPK, and Path/Tox. The ideal candidate will bring strong sterile technique, cell culture expertise, and a collaborative mindset to help drive innovation and maintain momentum during a team member's leave of absence.About the RoleThis is a contract role that will support ongoing cell-based assay development and execution.ResponsibilitiesCell-Based Assays:Design, troubleshoot, and execute cell-based assays using 96-well plates.Plate and maintain both adherent and suspension cells with strong sterile technique.Prepare media and identify issues in cell culture health and contamination.Support development of novel assays and contribute to assay optimization.Cell Culture & Sample Handling:Maintain cell line stocks and perform cell counts.Avoid use of antibiotics in culture when possible.Process biological fluids (e.g., blood to serum/plasma) and frozen tissues.Lab Operations:Maintain lab inventory and restock kits, plastics, and chemicals.Aliquot biological samples and manage freezer contents.Ensure lab cleanliness and compliance with SOPs and safety protocols.Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with microscopy experts, chemistry teams, and DMPK scientists.Communicate findings and contribute to team discussions.Reporting & Documentation:Generate clear, timely reports and maintain accurate records in ELN.Use lab software including Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, and SoftMax Pro.QualificationsEducation: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Life Sciences or related field.Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on lab experience. Proficiency in cell culture, assay development, and sterile technique. Experience working in a GMP or biotech environment preferred.Work EnvironmentThis is a high-paced, collaborative biotech setting where adaptability and teamwork are key.
