OverviewThe Senior Distribution Manager role at the El Monte DC will provide overall coordination and operational leadership for a variety of distribution center functions such as Receiving, New Product Distribution, Inventory Control and Replenishment. This individual will plan for and mobilize the essential resources (people, equipment, systems) in order to consistently fulfill store operational requirements in support of sales objectives, as well as drive continuous improvement in operating capability across the responsible functions. Major Duties and Responsibilities(May include but not limited to the following)Manage a team of operating supervisors and floor leadership resources to execute daily operating requirements in assigned areasAssures adequate resources - staffing, equipment, is in place to support daily operating requirements. Oversees budgets and spending for labor, supplies and other operating expenses Analyzes daily performance of the DC in areas of responsibility to identify problem areas, trends and opportunities for improvementIdentifies and drives a continuous process improvement plan for the key metrics in the responsible areas of the DCAssures operational SOP's are developed, trained and followed for areas of responsibilityInsures appropriate levels of training for DC associatesPrepares for the daily MDI meeting and organizes and prioritizes daily problem solving activities Take direction from senior management and hold team accountable for meeting daily job requirementsCoaches and develops direct reports and other employees to achieve top performance on their key metrics and to become effective leadersIdentifies and drives completion of opportunities for continuous process improvement in the operation to reduce cost, reduce cycle time and improve service and quality and mobilizes resources to fully implement changesPartners with and works on cross-functional issues with merchandising, Inventory Control, store operations and other groups as needed to insure full support for overall WSS business objectivesCommunicates and reinforces company policies and standardsFollow and model the WSS core values of Customer focus, Teamwork, Striving for excellence, Entrepreneurial spirit, Respect, Integrity, Open communication and Having funKey Performance MetricsDaily Receiving %, UPH, AccuracyPicking UPH, Order CompletionDistro % completion, UPHInventory Accuracy and Cycle Count Completion100% SOP complianceInjury ratePositive employee relations climateRequirements: College degree in business, supply chain, operations management or related area. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently; the ability to speak Spanish is an asset.At least 4-5 years of mid-level leadership experience leading a workforce of 50 or more people in a related distribution center and/or supply chain operation. Warehouse concepts of inventory controls, product movement, order fulfillmentKnowledge of Warehouse Management Systems - High Jump and associated systemsStrong PC skills - Excel, Word, Outlook or equivalent e-mail program. Ability to work with spreadsheets is critical. Provide feedback and coaching to the team members being supervised / recommend corrective actionAble to lead major cross-functional projects insuring delivery of project objectives and effective use of resourcesMaintain excellent two-way communication with the rest of the management team and other DC employees in both verbal and written formatsAbility to work collaboratively with business partners in Merchandising, Allocation, Inventory Control, Finance, Store Operations and other corporate support functionsPerform advanced analysis on metrics, cost models, etc. to aid in problem solving and justification of investmentsSpecial Consideration given to:Applicants with 5 or more years' experience in Distribution or line manufacturing operations. Applicants with Supply Chain certifications English/Spanish bi-lingualKnowledge or experience with Lean management concepts / Lean certificationsWorking ConditionsThe working environments may include warm / cold / dry / damp conditions that will be encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
