Position SummaryThe EHS Specialist III serves as the site's primary Environmental, Health, and Safety leader, operating in a highly independent, hands-on environment. This is a standalone role with full ownership of day-to-day EHS activities, investigations, and continuous safety improvement efforts. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can confidently lead safety initiatives, manage reactive issues, and proactively elevate the site's safety culture.Team Structure & Reporting RelationshipThis is a standalone position with no direct reports and no embedded EHS teamActs as the primary EHS point of contact for the siteLeads daily morning safety meetings with Production Managers, Supervisors, and the Director of OperationsWorks cross-functionally with Operations, HR, and Leadership but operates with a high degree of autonomyManager Style & Work EnvironmentIndependent and self-directed roleMinimal day-to-day oversight; success depends on ownership and initiativeExpected to take the lead on investigations and decision-makingCollaborative environment when proposing or implementing improvementsKey ResponsibilitiesReactive / Operational ResponsibilitiesLead and manage incident and accident investigations independentlyPartner with HR on workers' compensation claims and related documentationFacilitate and lead daily safety meetingsMaintain and manage internal safety tracking tools and spreadsheetsEnsure existing EHS processes and procedures are followed and sustainedServe as the on-call safety contact as needed (rare weekend involvement)Proactive / Continuous Improvement ResponsibilitiesChampion and promote a strong safety-first culture across the siteIdentify hazards and implement preventative measuresDevelop, update, or write new safety practices and procedures as neededDrive safety awareness through training, communication, and leadership presenceCollaborate with operations and leadership on safety improvements and initiativesWork Environment & PaceCombination of proactive and reactive workFast-paced manufacturing/production environmentMix of plant floor presence and administrative workHigh visibility role with frequent interaction across departmentsWorkload requires strong prioritization and comfort managing multiple processesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or related field preferred5+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentProven experience leading investigations independentlyStrong working knowledge of OSHA and applicable safety regulationsAbility to influence without authority and work effectively in a standalone roleStrong communication, organization, and leadership skillsIdeal Candidate ProfileComfortable working independently with minimal oversightConfident decision-maker who takes ownership of safety outcomesAble to balance immediate reactive needs with long-term proactive improvementsRespected presence on the production floorPassionate about building and sustaining a strong safety culture in a food manufacturing settingCompensation- $30- $40/hrInformation on benefits available to LaSalle Network consultants can be found here: View Consultant BenefitsJulie HessSenior Project ManagerLaSalle Network is an Equal Opportunity Employer m/f/d/v.LaSalle Network is the leading provider of direct hire and temporary staffing services.
